Village Prenatal: Pregnancy Support & Community in San Marcos, TX
Offered by the Little Village and birth doula Greta Nakliudaite-Perez
It's a recurring gathering/community space for pregnancy, where people can ask questions, talk honestly, learn from each other, and prepare for birth and postpartum.
While there are some educational elements to it, it is intentionally a gathering more than a class (if you'd like to hear about upcoming childbirth education classes, please reach out at here)
They are facilitated by a doula and beginning student midwife Greta Nakliudaite-Perez and are designed to complement clinical prenatal care.
This is the village around your prenatal care.
What is a Village Prenatal?
PREGNANCY FEELS BETTER WITH SUPPORT
Modern pregnancy can be strangely isolating: appointments are often short, information is everywhere, but there aren't necessarily many places to sit with other pregnant people and actually talk.
It might also feel difficult to find time to really sit with yourself and turn inwards (especially if you have other little ones) unless you dedicate a special time for that.
Village prenatals provide the relational, emotional, and educational layer of pregnancy that many people miss in standard prenatal care.
They are offered as ongoing, open gatherings. Participants are welcome to join at any point in pregnancy and may attend one session or return regularly.
Topics we might explore:
Support Systems in Pregnancy and Beyond
Nutrition and Nourishment
Physiological Birth + Birth Hormones
Belly Mapping
Fear, Trust and Surrender
Intuition as an Ally in Pregnancy and Birth
Birth preferences and birth plans
Partner involvement in pregnancy and birth
Choosing a birth setting
Hospital, birth center, and homebirth options
Navigating pregnancy appointments
Perinatal mental health
Relationships and intimacy during pregnancy
Preparing older siblings
What actually happens after the baby arrives
Local resources for pregnant families in San Marcos and surrounding communities
Preparing for the Postpartum
Breastfeeding
While themes may repeat over time, each gathering stands on its own and does not require prior attendance.
